Welcome to the Competitions, Teams and Rules area of the Hull & District Chess AssociationThe Hull & District Chess Association runs several competitions, organises a number of events throughout the year and has teams competing in competitions run by other organisations, i.e. the Yorkshire Chess Association and the 4NCL. More details can be found below.
HDCA CompetitionsAs mentioned above, we organise several competitions, in which teams from clubs located in and around Hull participate. We have a winter league season, that runs from 1st of September until 31st of May. In that, we have a 6-board league, with 2 divisions, 6 teams in each, and a 4-board (handicapped) league, with 2 divisions, 8 teams in each. We also have a summer league season, that runs from 1st of June till 31st of August. In that, we have 2 sections, with 2 different maximum team rating limits, in which teams of 4 players compete. More details can be found in the Handbook in Player Resources on the right of this page.
59th Hull CongressThe Hull & District Chess Association organises an annual congress, that is open for all players. The last few years we’ve teamed up with the 4NCL. Details about the 2022 Congress and entry form can be found here:
Hull RapidWe also run an annual Rapid Tournament, usually on the 1st of 2nd Sunday in January. This season’s Rapid will be held on Sunday 15th January (to avoid clashing with the 4NCL team competition – see further below). Details on the event can be found here:
The Hull & District Chess Association compete in the Yorkshire League, with two teams. One in the Woodhouse Cup (1st division) and one in the IM Brown Shield (2nd division).
