Welcome to the Hull and District Chess Association

The Hull and District Chess Association is a registered Charity (number 1155858). We support and promote Chess, Chess Clubs and Chess players throughout Hull and the East Riding. Our vision is for Hull to:

become one of the best places to play Chess in the UK and for Hull to have one of the most forward thinking and vibrant Chess environments in the UK. We will make Hull recognised as a good place to play Chess and make people want to come to Hull to play Chess.

Whether you are an experienced chess player or new to the game and looking for help on how to get started this web site will have something to help you! Here you will find everything you need to play chess in our area including how to get started and finding information on all the local clubs as well as the events run by the Association. Information on junior chess in schools, Chess clubs in the area, a calendar of events, History of chess in Hull, Chess Congress information, and much, much more.

New on the Web site

Details of two new events : featuring Grand Master and England No 1 Michael Adams can now be found on the home page. Click on the poster for more details of the simultaneous.

Reports on the Appleby Frodingham Chess Club Individual and Lightning Tournaments, by Dave Mills.

At a recent meeting the Trustees agreed to adopt the ECF Child Protection Policy. A copy, together with details of our lead for safeguarding issues can be found here and on the organisation tab.

38 players contested the Hull Rapid play. Results for the major and minor can be found on the relevant link. There is a short report, together with some photographs here.
