Prize Structure
In all sections, prizes will be
allocated based on the following scores:

a maximum of £100. **
Grading Prizes
Grading prizes of £30 will be offered depending on the number of
entries in each section. Details will be made available on Sun 9 Nov.
Tournament Format
All tournaments will be five-round Swiss. We expect players to
participate in each round unless they request a half-point bye in one particular
round on their entry forms. The rate of play is 42 moves in 1 hour 45 minutes,
then clocks are put back 15 minutes and play is to be completed in the remaining
time. In cases of dispute, the Chief Controller’s decision in all matters is
final.
Grades
Grades
from the 2008 ECF Grading List will be used unless a more accurate indication of
true playing strength exists. Ungraded players must provide an indication of
their playing strength and disclose their performance in any other tournaments
they have played in.
Getting
here
By
car:
Access via the A1079 and B1233 (Cottingham Road). Free car parking is available
on campus in the car park adjacent to University House. You can only access this
via the Inglemire Lane entrance leading past the Newlands Science Park at the
north end of the campus. Use HU6 7RX for Sat Navs and www.aa.com
as a route finder.
Public
transport: There
are regular trains to Hull Paragon, and buses generally leave every ten minutes
from the Interchange (cost is about £1.20) Call the Busline number 01482 222222
for specific information.
Accommodation
There is accommodation to meet all demands in Hull, particularly in
the city centre. Around the university, there are a good number of bed and
breakfasts. For more information, call Hull Tourist Office on (01482) 223559
Refreshments
Hot and cold drinks and food are available in the Student Union.
There are also shops, pubs and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk.
